The Great Park in Irvine, CA

Shout out to the SoCal city of Irvine for turning an old Marine Corps base into one of the coolest urban parks I’ve ever encountered. Great Park is part art gallery, demonstration garden, outdoor movie theater, food lab, urban planning experiment, and amusement park. Best of all? The views from 400 feet up in the big, bad orange balloon.

Intrigued? Read more about the park here. Know of any other progressive parks in the West? Do tell.

They need to correct it. It was a Marine Corps base, not an old Air Force base. Makes me wonder if they even went there.

Lucky you! If you ever take a ride in the balloon, feel free to tweet us a pic of the view. 😉
