An hour-long Portlandia brunchfest

Here’s what I want to know about Portlandia (which, in case you live in a cave, is the crazy-addictive IFC show that spoofs on everything and everyone Portland): How do they pick just the right places to film? How does director Jonathan Krisel so deftly encapsulate PDX culture in 23-minute chunks?

Expect these kind of reveals in an hour-long special this Friday (July 20 at 8 p.m.). It’s a director’s cut, with lots of behind-the-scenes footage of its “Brunch Village” season finale, plus a glimpse into Krisel’s personal Portlandia moment: His quest for the perfect marionberry pancakes (as told by Kyle MacLachlan, a.k.a. Mr. Mayor).

Just a little morsel to tide over those of us who CAN’T WAIT until January for the third season.
