Morel watch: week 1

We’re keeping our eyes peeled for signs of morels coming up
in our patch on the Sunset grounds.

 Along the walk, we’ve been checking out the Sunset garden in
full bloom. Take a look!

Here are the striped camellias.

And a saucer magnolia. They smell like sweet lemons.

Things are changing in our morel patch, too! But are we
seeing morels or sprouting compost? We can’t tell yet. I’m really hoping this could be one of the toothpick-like young morels we’re supposed to look for.
