A vegetable garden on the White House lawn!
We hinted of it here and here, and now it seems there will actually be an organic veggie garden at the White House.
The White House has even released the planting plan. Looks great!
I’m disappointed Obama confessed to disliking beets. Who dislikes beets?! Then again, it seems like an easy out for a disliked vegetable. Can you imagine the uproar from mothers across the country had he chosen broccoli?
I never liked beets growing up. Then my wife decided to try a recipe where they are diced, sautéed in butter and are finished with sea salt. Wow. They were awesome, now that is one of my favorite side dishes.
I have to say, I agree with him… Beets are the one vegetable I just can’t develop a taste for, though I can stand the golden varieties and the greens. They taste like dirt to me. It must just be one of those foods you have to grow up eating…
I agree with President Obama. I tried eating some recently just to see if my tastes had changed, but they still make me want to choke. Maybe that Vice Principal in elementary school shouldn’t have forced me to eat my beets!
You forgot to mention they will also be keeping TWO BEE hives for honey! I hope to see some pictures of the presidential family in beesuits one of these days!
I dislike beets. In fact pickled beets are one of the very few foods that I simply will not eat. I’ve recently encountered some roasted beets (usually golden ones) that I can at least stand to eat, though saying I like them might be a stretch. I also am a lousy bowler. Perhaps I should run for president.
